Chania

Chania one of two airports on the island of Crete, the largest and most southern of all the Greek islands. Land of the Minotaur and the birth place of Zeus. With high mountain peaks, crystal clear waters and beautiful sandy beaches. Chania airport serves the resorts of Platanias, Maleme, Aghia Marina and Rethymnon.

Places of interest include Chania old town and its harbour, the ruins of the ancient harbour of Falasarna, also worth visiting is the German war cemetery at Maleme where German paratroopers who attacked Crete in 1941 have been laid to rest. A very moving place located in the hills above Maleme.

There are cheap flights to Chania from Birmingham, Gatwick, Manchester and Newcastle airports. Flight times approximately 3-4 hours and the island local time is 2 hours ahead.
